Devastation in Joplin from Sunday Night's Twister
More than 125 people are confirmed dead from a devastating tornado strike in Joplin Sunday night (May 22). Search and recovery efforts continue. Many HBA members and others in the industry nationwide have contacted the Home Builders Association of Greater Springfield seeking more information or trying to learn how they can help. Those in the building industry who wish to support the relief and rebuilding efforts in Joplin can do so by making a donation to the HBA Charitable Foundation Joplin Relief Fund (see form below). NOTE TO HBA MEMBERS: In order to protect consumers by distinguishing professional and reputable HBA contractors from short-term “storm chaser” style contractors, the HBA of Greater Springfield is providing “Verified HBA Member Contractor” letters that verify your company as an HBA member in good standing and briefly explain the standards for membership in the HBA. To learn more about how your business can best participate in the cleanup and/or rebuilding needs of the community, read HBA of Greater Springfield President Matt Bailey’s blog post on the subject by clicking here (http://www.springfieldhba.com/startrebuildingjoplin/).
