Habitat Tool Belts & Bow Ties Raised $85,000

The eleventh annual Tool Belts & Bow Ties fundraiser hosted by Habitat for Humanity of Springfield, MO (HFHS), held on Friday, March 18, 2016, raised $85,000 to support the Habitat for Humanity mission. This is a $10,000 increase from the previous year’s revenue, which will help homeowners achieve strength, stability, and self-reliance to build a better life for themselves and their families. Funds will be used to build or repair a home for low-income families in Greene County.

The 1940’s, “Cue the Band” themed event featured a 200 item silent auction, specialty cocktails from Missouri Spirits, dinner,  and entertainment provided by The Wings of Swing Big Band accompanied by dancers from Sonshine’s Royal Ballroom.

Event organizers educated guests on the mission of Habitat for Humanity by highlighting the Winston Family who shared their homeownership story. The Winston’s have been homeowners with HFHS since 2002. Following the program, guests were engaged in the ever popular Sponsor-A-Home auction where attendees bid on items necessary to build a home, such as a low-flow toilet, bundles of shingles, and the front door.

“This event has continued to grow beyond our expectations,” said Larry Peterson, executive director of HFHS. “It’s amazing to see the support our community shows by joining us for a night of celebration at Tool Belts & Bow Ties.”

The eleventh annual Tool Belts & Bow Ties was presented by Keystone Building & Design and 40 additional community partners. For a full listing of event sponsors, donors, and photos, please visit habitatspringfieldmo.org/get-involved/tool-belts-bow-ties.
