EPA wants Mud Puddles to be Wetlands – Support HR 1732 to Stop

H.R. 1732 Passed the House with a vote of 261-155

An email was sent to all HBA members on April 30th that began with “ It’s very rare that your HBA office forwards an email from NAHB. However, Congress will be looking at HR1732 TOMORROW (Friday, May 1st) and it is critically important that we reach out to our Representatives and urge them to support HR1732.

I’m excited to announce that H.R. 1732 has passed the house – largely due to efforts of HBA members throughout our nation. Unfortunately, this vote is just the beginning of the battle ahead. We will be sending more information out about this piece of legislation as it works its way through the system.

mud-puddleWhat is H.R. 1732 and why is it so important? H.R. 1732 is legislation that would NOT allow the EPA to have control over EVERY body of water, all the way down to minor little mud puddles. This will be devastating to the construction industry by making it incredible difficult to develop new subdivisions. Please read the two attachments at the end of this post for more information.

Also, I encourage you to take advantage of the opportunity to meet with Charles Liuzzo, Regional Field Representative with NAHB at this month’s membership meeting (Tuesday, May 19th, 5pm-7pm at Southern Materials and Southern Supply) and learn more about H.R. 1732 and how you can help make a difference!
