Matt Morrow, Chief Executive Officer

Matt Morrow serves as Chief Executive Officer of the Home Builders Association of Greater Springfield, Missouri. Matt holds a Bachelors Degree in Communication and a Masters in Business Administration (MBA).

Matt’s professional background comes in the news media and in politics. Between 1991 and 1996, Matt worked at small market radio stations in Bolivar and Buffalo, Missouri, as Sports Director, News Director, and ultimately as Station Manager. In 1994, he received the Missouri Broadcasting Association’s top honor for small market sports reporting, before moving into news and station management duties.

In 1996, Matt’s background in broadcasting led to a position with then-U.S. Senator John Ashcroft as a Communications Specialist in Washington, D.C. Matt spent nearly five years with Ashcroft, eventually serving in the capacities of Missouri Press Secretary and District Office Director for southwest Missouri. During the 2000 elections, Matt served as Communications Director for the Missouri Republican Party.

In November 2000, Matt was hired by the HBA of Greater Springfield to serve as its Executive Officer. Under Matt’s direction, the association has stepped up its efforts and its results in political action, charitable involvement, and marketing and public relations. In that time, the association established its own Political Action Committee (PAC), the Coalition for Building a Better Tomorrow (CBBT), as well as its own 501(c)3 charity, the Home Builders Association Charitable Foundation (HBACF). 

In 2003, the National Association of Home Builders’ Executive Officers Council awarded Matt with the David Lloyd Memorial Award. The award is presented to one executive officer each year who has served no more than three years in an association management position and is judged to have made major contributions to the profession. In 2008, the Council recognized Matt among HBA executives nationwide with the Gary Komarow Executive Officer of the Year Award. He serves on numerous local boards and commissions and is a frequent spokesperson on behalf of the local housing and construction industries.

Matt’s wife Rachael owns an independent consulting and market research firm, Morrow & Associates. They have a daughter, Anna Christine (4) and a son, Alexander Matthew (1). Matt and Rachael are active members of Second Baptist Church in Springfield, where Matt teaches their Adult Bible Fellowship class on Sunday mornings.

Charlyce Ruth, Operations Manager

 

Charlyce Ruth serves as Operations Manager of the Home Builders Association of Greater Springfield. Charlyce holds a Bachelors Degree in Business Management and a minor in economics from Whitworth College in Spokane, Washington.
    
Charlyce’s professional background includes working in both residential and commercial construction.  While living in Seattle, Washington, she worked for a commercial construction company. She then moved to Springfield and worked for a residential construction company.  At both companies, she was responsible for job costing and working with scheduling.
    
Since coming to work for the HBA in the fall of 1999, Charlyce has been instrumental in the planning of all of the HBA annual events, including the Home Show, Home Remodeling EXPO, Parade of Homes, golf tournaments, fishing tournaments, Bowl*A*Rama and the Belt Sander Races.  In addition, Charlyce serves as the staff liaison to the HBA Charitable Foundation and is responsible for maintaining the financial records for the HBA and the HBA Charitable Foundation.

Charlyce’s husband Jeff is employed with Northwest Airlines at the Springfield-Branson Airport. Jeff collects and restores antique tractors and steam engines, and serve on the Early Days Gas Engine & Tractor Association board and The Steam Engine Association board.

Jennifer McClure, Director of Public Affairs

Jennifer serves as the Director of Member Services for the HBA of Greater Springfield, Missouri. Jennifer received her Bachelors Degree in Philosophy from Drury University and holds a Masters Degree from the University of Missouri School of Journalism. Jennifer currently serves on the Ozarks Community Hospital Board of Directors, the Springfield Public Schools Foundation Advisory Board, OTC Center for Workforce Development Advisory Committee, and the Springfield-Greene County Park Board starting in June

Jennifer has 15 years of experience in communications, marketing, public/media relations and government including: Director of Marketing and Community Relations, Citizens Memorial Hospital; Communications Manager, Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce; District Director, Senator Roseann Bentley; and Creative Director, ACR Nally Advertising Agency.

At the HBA, Jennifer is responsible for developing and managing member services and affiliate programs that enhance the value of membership, including educational opportunities for members. She also coordinates and executes public relations and communications activities such as publishing the association’s monthly magazine and other collateral materials, in accordance with the HBA’s mission.

Kay Wylie, Office  Manager

Kay Wylie manages many of the day-to-day functions of the HBA office and provides logistical support for numerous events and programs. She is the primary point of contact and support for inquiries about membership and other member services/benefits and serves as staff liaison for HBA’s membership and green committees.

Kay has been with the HBA for over two years after retiring from dental hygiene and owning a small organizing business. She enjoys learning about and supporting the construction industry, related businesses, and its impact on the community.
